The Tveter Children Cyclists

Madeleine: (9) The baby of the family of 10 children (biological and adopted), when Madeleine started cyclo-cross racing she needed a bike custom made because her parents couldn't find one small enough. She is having a fun time being part of the group and trying to keep up with her big brothers and sister. She is so cute!

Alexander: (10) In 2009 the youngest Tveter boy also joined the racing circuit. Everyone can't help but compare him to Christopher. He is a natural! He dreams of riding the Tour de France someday with his big brothers.

Nicholas: (13) On Queens Day in 2006 Nicholas had his first race on his school bike and won first place. He was presented a medal from the mayor and was invited by a local cycling team to join their team. His parents purchased the family’s first junior racing bike and Nicholas was a natural. In 2007 Nicholas rode across The Netherlands to raise money for autism (he has aspergers syndrome) and raised over 1000 euros. In 2010 Nicholas rode the first stage race of the Tour de France before the pro's. He started at their finish line in Belgium and rode to Rotterdam when he was invited to make the first round of the prolog just minutes before the professionals like Lance Armstrong and Alberto Contador. Nicholas was involved in a peleton crash at the end sprint of a race. He broke his arm and his hip. He is still recovering from the hip injury and it will take some time before he is back to full speed.

Elizabeth: (14) Elizabeth was the last Tveter kid to join cycling. She was on the selection team for field hockey and the season ran practically year round from August to June. Being that 4 of her brothers and sisters were competitive cyclist Elizabeth was dragged along to training and races. She was bored watching her brothers and sisters train and decided to join them for fun and just like the rest of the family became addicted. Despite being a relative newcomer to cycling, Elizabeth is finishing in the peleton with the rest of the riders.

Christopher: (18) Christopher was on the soccer selection team and after a knee injury he started cycling to remain in form. He also became hooked on cycling and joined the same team as Nicholas. In 2009 Christopher was scouted by an international team and began racing weekly in Belgium and Germany as well. In November 2010 Christopher's coach wanted him to start track cycling to keep in shape for the winter. He was a natural and qualified for the Nationals already in December 2010. Everyone was caught off guard by his instant success and his parents couldn't afford to buy him a new bike in time for nationals so he borrowed and old iron bike once belonging to ........ He came in 7th overall. A selection coach hollered at his mother because it was such a shame that such a promising young racer was on such a heavy old iron bike and the inadequate equipment cost him a place on the podium. Fortunately he received a brand new sponsored Giant bike for the road and in January 2011 during the pre-season meeting the coach and trainers asked Christopher what his goal for the season was. Christopher said that he wanted to win the last stage race of the European youth tournament in August 2011 and he did it! He is winning everything and having the time of his life!
